A documentary crew on the Amazon River picks up a stranded hunter and soon finds itself forced onto his mission to capture the largest, deadliest snake in the jungle. Jennifer Lopez is Terri Flores, the filmmaker trying to keep the expedition together, while Jon Voight’s Paul Serone takes control of the riverboat and pushes deeper into dangerous water. With anthropologist Steve Cale (Eric Stoltz) and the rest of the team trapped between Serone’s obsession and a giant anaconda in the surrounding rainforest, the setup mixes jungle adventure, hostage tension, and monster attacks in close quarters.
