Watermelon Man
ComedyDramaFantasy100 min
Jeff Gerber is a suburban insurance agent whose home life and workday run on open racism, from the people he taunts in the neighborhood to the Black people he brushes off on the job. Then he wakes up one morning with dark skin, and the ordinary world he took for granted changes overnight. Godfrey Cambridge is Jeff, a man forced to confront the treatment he once dished out, while Estelle Parsons is the wife caught in the shock inside their household. Melvin Van Peebles directs this 1970 satire with a premise that pushes everyday prejudice into absurd, uncomfortable territory.
