No Chains No Masters
ActionAdventureDrama98 min
On Mauritius in 1759, teenage Mati runs from a French-controlled sugar plantation, hoping to reach a remote community of fugitives before the island’s slave hunters catch her. Anna Diakhere Thiandoum is Mati, whose refusal to submit clashes with her father, Massamba. Ibrahima M’Baye’s Massamba has been worn down by years of terror and forced labor, but her escape pushes him to break his own chains and go after her. As the plantation owner unleashes Camille Cottin’s Madame La Victoire and her sons, the search spills from the cane fields into the jungle.
