Nicolas Cage is Randy, the city outsider who doesn’t fit with Julie’s image-conscious friends or the parties, gossip, and status games that shape her world. As the two keep finding their way back to each other, the film roots its romance in 1980s Southern California — mall fashion, club nights, and a clear divide between valley polish and punk attitude.
