The Synanon Fix
CrimeDocumentary30 min per episode
Former members recount how Synanon grew from a groundbreaking drug rehabilitation program into an organization many came to see as a cult. The show tracks the rise of founder Charles “Chuck” Dederich and the community built around recovery, communal living, and increasingly rigid control. Jady Dederich Montgomery and Mike Gimbel are among the voices tracing how Synanon’s early promise gave way to public scandal and criminal accusations. Interviews and archival media keep the focus on people who lived inside the movement and watched it change from the inside.
