The Lunchbox
DramaRomance104 min
A mix-up in Mumbai’s famously precise lunchbox delivery system links Ila, a neglected housewife, with Saajan, a lonely office worker nearing retirement. Nimrat Kaur’s Ila begins slipping notes into the meals she prepares, and Irrfan Khan is Saajan, the reserved stranger who writes back. What starts as an apology turns into a private correspondence carried across the city with each lunchbox, as the two trade confessions, memories, and small details of their daily lives. Their connection grows without a face-to-face meeting, and the fantasy they build in those letters begins to press against the lives waiting for them outside the lunchbox.
