John Ritter is Roy Knable, a suburban salesman whose devotion to television has worn thin at home, especially with Pam Dawber’s Helen. When a sinister dealer talks Roy into a satellite dish with 666 channels, the couple is pulled straight out of their living room and into Hellvision, a twisted TV realm run by Jeffrey Jones’s Spike, an emissary of Satan. To get back, Roy and Helen have to survive a gauntlet of demonic channel surfing: warped sitcoms, game shows, commercials, and other broadcast spoofs, with the movie bouncing between live action and bursts of animation along the way.
