Summoned to a Puerto Rico police station to tidy up a witness report, a prominent tax attorney expects a brief interruption before a public speech. Instead, Gene Hackman is kept in the interview room as the police captain — an old friend, with Morgan Freeman in the role — keeps finding new holes in the story around a brutal murder. Over the course of one long night, a cooperative exchange hardens into an interrogation, with each new detail pulling the lawyer further from witness and closer to suspect. Monica Bellucci and Thomas Jane round out the circle around the case.
