The Treacherous
CrimeDramaFantasyThriller133 min
In the late Joseon court, King Yeonsan rules through appetite and fear, exploiting his people while the palace becomes a machinery of indulgence and control. Kim Kang-woo is the tyrant at the center, with Ju Ji-Hoon’s Im Sung-jae serving as the seemingly loyal retainer who manages both the king’s whims and the kingdom’s affairs. As their hold over the court tightens, a woman seeking vengeance, played by Lim Ji-yeon, is pulled into their orbit. Palace intrigue, shifting loyalties, and the excesses of royal power drive this historical drama deeper into manipulation and revenge.
