A feisty young fox and a hound puppy become inseparable, even as the world around them insists they should be enemies. Mickey Rooney is Tod, adopted into a farm family after a rough start, while Kurt Russell voices Copper, the good-natured pup who meets him at the fence line. Their days are filled with play and mischief, but growing up changes the rules. As Copper is trained for hunting, the bond between the two friends is tested by instinct, loyalty, and the expectations of the people raising them.
