The Teacher Who Promised the Sea
Drama105 min
When Ariadna joins an exhumation in Burgos to look for the remains of the father her grandfather lost in the Spanish Civil War, the search leads her to an earlier story. Laia Costa’s Ariadna learns about Antoni Benaiges, a young teacher from Tarragona; Enric Auquer is the idealistic educator whose open, unconventional methods leave a mark on his students before the war closes in. As past and present connect, the film moves between the mass grave and the classroom, where Antoni makes the children an extraordinary promise: one day, he will take them to see the sea.
