This Land Is Mine
DramaWar103 min
In an unnamed European town under Nazi occupation, Charles Laughton is Albert Lory, a mild schoolteacher who keeps his head down as collaborators gain influence and resistance stirs around him. His growing attachment to fellow teacher Louise (Maureen O'Hara), along with the example of the town's defiant citizens, presses him toward choices he has spent his life avoiding. George Sanders moves through the occupied city as a polished local figure with ties to the new order, while Jean Renoir keeps the focus on daily life under surveillance, civic pressure, and the quiet calculations people make to endure.
