In the Summers
Drama98 min
Each summer, sisters Eva and Violeta leave their mother’s home in California for Las Cruces, New Mexico, where time with their father is both affectionate and unstable. René Pérez is Vicente, trying to make a place for himself in their lives even as his volatility keeps disrupting it; Sasha Calle’s Eva and Lío Mehiel’s Violeta are followed from adolescence into adulthood as those yearly visits leave their mark. The story returns year by year to the sisters’ visits, showing how a familiar house and a familiar pattern of reunion and upheaval follow them into adulthood.
