Eleven-year-old Mildred’s life is thrown off course when her mother lands in the hospital and the father she barely knows shows up to take care of her. Nell Fisher is Mildred, a bookish kid whose estranged American dad, Strawn Wise, decides a camping trip through the rugged New Zealand wilderness will help break the ice. Elijah Wood’s Strawn is a magician with frayed credibility and big ideas, including a quest to track down the legendary Canterbury Panther. What begins as forced time together turns into a rough, funny search for a creature that may or may not exist.
