As detectives chase suspects and try to piece together motives, her interpretations can shift the direction of an inquiry and put her close to people the police do not fully understand. Rose Ayling-Ellis leads the series as the civilian at the center of the work, with Andrew Buchan among the officers relying on what she can see that others miss.
