Making a Murderer
CrimeDocumentary64 min per episode
In Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, Steven Avery walks out of prison after 18 years for a violent crime he did not commit, only to become the central suspect in the 2005 murder of photographer Teresa Halbach. The series follows the case as it turns from a story of exoneration into a new prosecution, tracing the searches, interviews, and courtroom fights that surround Avery’s arrest. It also follows his teenage nephew, Brendan Dassey, whose interrogation and conviction as an accessory become a second, deeply contested case. As police, prosecutors, and defense attorneys build competing narratives, the documentary pieces together how two convictions take shape and why they remain so disputed.
