Atlantic City at the start of Prohibition belongs to Enoch “Nucky” Thompson, the city treasurer who controls the boardwalk’s politics, liquor, and backroom deals. Steve Buscemi is Nucky, polished in public and ruthless when business moves behind closed doors. Around him, Kelly MacDonald and Michael Shannon figure into a world where bootleg money, party bosses, gangsters, and federal pressure all collide. The 1920s setting runs on smoke-filled clubs, hotel suites, ward politics, and violence just under the surface, as legal authority and organized crime become harder to separate.
