Fresh out of prison in 1980s London, Bob Hoskins is George, a small-time crook whose old tough-guy routine no longer gets him far. When he’s hired to drive and watch over Cathy Tyson’s Simone, a high-class call girl moving between wealthy clients and the streets around King’s Cross, George becomes fixated on her and agrees to help find a missing young woman from her past. The search pulls him through strip clubs, back rooms, and criminal circles, with Michael Caine’s Morton overseeing the arrangement from a distance.
