After a painful breakup leaves him unable to sleep, art student Ben Willis takes a job on the late shift at a supermarket and starts drifting through the night in a state between boredom and obsession. Sean Biggerstaff is Ben, passing the empty hours by sketching customers and coworkers in his head and imagining he can stop time altogether, turning fluorescent aisles into a gallery of frozen moments. As his artistic eye latches onto the people around him, including a quiet checkout clerk, the film moves between breakup fallout, workplace routines, and Ben’s stylized fantasies about beauty, memory, and intimacy.
