After a mountaineering trip turns fatal, a young wife is put on trial for the death of her older husband, with her testimony pulled between accident, abuse, and an affair that the court is eager to turn into motive. Ayako Wakao is the woman at the center of the case, forced to recount what happened on the mountain as suspicion closes in. Hiroshi Kawaguchi is the younger man whose connection to her sharpens the scandal around the trial. Moving between the climb itself and the courtroom, the film keeps its focus on conflicting accounts, public judgment, and the pressure behind a confession.
