Diner

ComedyDrama110 min

In 1959 Baltimore, five young men keep drifting back to their neighborhood diner as weddings, jobs, gambling debts, and the rest of adult life start pressing in. Steve Guttenberg is among the tight-knit group, while Daniel Stern helps give the endless booth conversations their anxious, restless edge. Barry Levinson keeps the story close to the everyday details of their lives — long meals, small arguments, dumb stunts, and the way a familiar hangout can become a shelter from the next step. With one friend preparing to get married, the usual routines start to feel less permanent.
