Dan Dailey is Chuck Rodwell, a gambling cowboy who discovers he can’t seem to lose in Las Vegas when he’s holding a certain dancer’s hand. That dancer is Marie, and Cyd Charisse gives her a cool reserve as Chuck tries to turn an odd streak of luck at the roulette wheel into a lasting arrangement. Their friction drives a 1950s musical romance built around casino floors, stage numbers, and Chuck’s increasingly elaborate attempts to stay close to the woman he thinks is his charm. Agnes Moorehead turns up as Chuck’s mother in the middle of the mayhem.
