After a drunken crash on the day of her sister’s wedding, Gwen Cummings is given a choice between jail and rehab. Sandra Bullock is Gwen, a New York columnist and practiced party girl who arrives at treatment determined to mock the rules, skip the group sessions, and insist she doesn’t have a problem. Inside the facility, counselor Cornell (Steve Buscemi) presides over a mix of rituals, confrontations, and fellow patients who start to chip away at her denial as she struggles to face her alcoholism.
