In a hospital outside 1920s Los Angeles, an injured stuntman begins spinning an elaborate tale for Alexandria, a fellow patient with a broken arm. Lee Pace is Roy, bedridden, reliant on morphine, and increasingly invested in a story about five mythic heroes seeking revenge; Catinca Untaru’s Alexandria supplies the images, logic, and feeling of the fantasy as she listens. As Roy’s state of mind shifts, the boundary between the hospital ward and the adventure starts to blur, with the people around them echoing through the characters and landscapes of the story he tells.
