Kung Pow: Enter the Fist
ActionAdventureComedy81 min
Steve Oedekerk is The Chosen One, a would-be kung-fu hero dropped into a patched-together 1970s martial-arts movie and sent after Master Pain, the villain behind his parents’ death. Oedekerk’s movie splices contemporary characters and newly shot scenes into footage from an older Hong Kong film, turning a straight revenge setup into a deliberately offbeat spoof packed with fights, cutaway gags, and strange encounters. Jimmy Wang Yu appears in the underlying film footage that keeps colliding with Oedekerk’s new material, which is where the movie gets its intentionally mismatched look and rhythm.
