King Louis XIV’s rule has turned brutal, and the old bond between the Musketeers is tested when they learn the throne has a hidden rival: Philippe (Richard Chamberlain), the king’s imprisoned twin, kept out of sight behind an iron mask. Years after their earlier adventures, D’Artagnan and his former comrades reunite to pull off a risky substitution at the center of the French court. Chamberlain takes both roles, contrasting the imperious Louis with the secluded brother meant to disappear, while Louis Jourdan’s D’Artagnan moves between palace intrigue, divided loyalties, and a plot that could upend the kingdom.
