The Rain People
Drama101 min
After learning she’s pregnant, Long Island housewife Natalie Ravenna leaves a note for her sleeping husband and drives off to reconsider the life waiting for her at home. Shirley Knight is Natalie, moving through motels, highways, and uncertain stops as Francis Ford Coppola follows her restless search for distance and clarity. On the road, she takes in a hitchhiker, with James Caan bringing an uneasy vulnerability to the stranger who joins her, and Robert Duvall is one of the other men she encounters as her detour stretches farther from home.
