Guarding Tess

ComedyDrama96 min

Nicolas Cage is Doug Chesnic, a Secret Service agent who thinks he’s finished guarding former First Lady Tess Carlisle, only to learn she has requested him as her permanent detail. Shirley MacLaine’s Tess is sharp, demanding, and impossible to contain, brushing past protocol and exhausting the team assigned to keep her safe. What should be a routine protection job turns into a daily battle of wills as Doug tries to manage her schedule, her moods, and the small crises that follow wherever she goes. Around the security procedures and Washington etiquette, the film builds its comedy from the uneasy bond between two people who can’t avoid each other.
