South Dakota farm kid Rebecca heads to college in Los Angeles and feels immediately out of place until she meets Crawl, a campus party guy who talks her into sticking it out. Carla Gugino's Rebecca returns home for Thanksgiving with a different look at the world, and Pauly Shore is Crawl, the loudmouthed new friend she brings back to the family farm as her pretend fiancé. The holiday visit drops his offbeat L.A. persona into the middle of Rebecca's conservative household, where her father (Lane Smith) is in no hurry to trust him.
