In the fictional African nation of Sangala, former counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer is working at a mission school for war orphans when a militia launches a violent coup. As General Juma’s forces sweep through the region, the school’s children become targets, and Bauer has to get them to safety while the country collapses around them. At the same time, a U.S. subpoena orders him back to answer for past human-rights abuses, but he refuses to leave in the middle of the crisis. Kiefer Sutherland and Robert Carlyle are caught in a story that ties the attack on the school to political maneuvering in Washington, where hidden support for the coup threatens to turn a local massacre into something larger.
