The Greatest Night in Pop
Documentary96 min
On a January night in 1985, dozens of the biggest names in music gathered in a Los Angeles studio to record “We Are the World” for African famine relief. The documentary follows the planning behind that one-night session, from the songwriting partnership of Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson to the scramble of getting so many artists in one room before cell phones or email. Richie reflects on the night alongside Bruce Springsteen and Cyndi Lauper, while archival footage and interviews with musicians, engineers, and crew trace how the recording took shape inside Henson Studios.
