A Complete Unknown

Drama141 min

An enigmatic 19-year-old from Minnesota arrives in New York’s West Village with a guitar and a new sound, and within a few years Bob Dylan is moving from the early-1960s folk scene to concert halls, the charts, and a widening spotlight. Timothée Chalamet is Dylan as his songs and mystique turn him into a national figure, with Edward Norton and Elle Fanning among the people in his orbit. James Mangold’s film follows those formative years through clubs, recording sessions, and the cultural upheaval around him, as Dylan heads toward the electric turn that would ignite the 1965 Newport Folk Festival.
