The Man Who Loved Women
ComedyDramaRomance110 min
Burt Reynolds’s David Fowler is a successful Los Angeles sculptor whose appetite for women starts to overwhelm his work, his confidence, and his sex life. Looking for help, he ends up on the couch of psychiatrist Marianna, with Julie Andrews listening as David recounts a long trail of seductions, fantasies, and romantic misfires. As their sessions unfold, the film moves between confession and flashback, following a man who treats desire like a calling until it begins to hollow out everything else. Blake Edwards directs this American remake of François Truffaut’s film with a polished, upscale L.A. backdrop and a self-conscious comic edge.
