The End of the Day

Drama99 min

Penniless veteran actors spend their later years in a retirement home, filling the days with stories of old triumphs, humiliations, and careers that never quite became what they imagined. When the once-famous Raphael Saint-Clair arrives, old affairs and buried jealousies begin to stir, and the home’s fragile routine starts to crack. Victor Francen and Michel Simon are among the faces in this uneasy community, with Louis Jouvet adding another note of theatrical pride and regret. Built around performers who can’t fully separate life from the stage, the film circles vanity, memory, and the long shadow of a life spent chasing applause.
