The Prisoner of Zenda
ActionAdventureComedy108 min
When the heir to Ruritania’s throne is threatened on the eve of his coronation, his loyal followers replace him with Syd, a London cabby who happens to be his double. Peter Sellers takes on multiple roles, shifting between the sheltered Rudolph, the baffled stand-in, and the aging king whose death starts the scramble for power. Jeremy Kemp’s Michael is the scheming brother who sees his chance at the crown. The story mixes royal intrigue with broad comedy, sending its lookalike hero through palace confusion, rival blondes, treachery, a prison at Zenda, and a climactic sword fight.
