Hubert Fiorentini is a French cop with a blunt, brutal way of working, and a forced suspension sends him back to Japan to settle the estate of the woman who disappeared from his life 19 years earlier. Jean Reno gives Hubert a hard, impassive center as the trip pulls him from probate paperwork into old connections, police trouble, and the orbit of the yakuza. Ryoko Hirosue's spirited teenager becomes part of the mess, turning Hubert's return to Tokyo into both a personal reckoning and a running clash between his old-school instincts and a situation he can't simply bulldoze.
