In 1945 Husnabad, Roop Chaudhry’s life inside an elite family collides with the musical underworld of Hira Mandi when she meets Zafar, a daredevil whose presence stirs old betrayals and hidden affairs. Alia Bhatt is Roop, moving between the Chaudhry household’s formality and the streets beyond it, while Varun Dhawan’s Zafar carries the pull of a world the family would rather keep separate. Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit fill out an ensemble shaped by marriage, family loyalties and the unrest of pre-Independence India.
