Unfair Competition

ComedyDramaWar110 min

Two neighboring linen dealers spend their days poaching each other’s customers in 1930s Italy, where price wars and wounded pride keep a neighborhood street in constant motion. With Diego Abatantuono and Sergio Castellitto at the center, the film follows Umberto and Leone as their petty commercial feud runs headlong into the rise of Fascism. New anti-Semitic business restrictions aimed at Leone begin to reshape the neighborhood, turning everyday competition into something harsher and more political. Their arguments over customers and pricing now play out against laws designed to decide who gets to work at all.
