Saccharine

DramaHorrorSci-Fi112 min

Hana, a lovelorn medical student, joins an obscure weight-loss craze that involves eating human ashes and ends up haunted by the dead stranger whose remains she’s consuming. Minh Ngoc Nguyen leads the film, with Midori Francis and Madeleine Madden among the people pulled into Hana’s orbit as a private fixation turns into a supernatural ordeal. Underneath the ghost story, Saccharine ties hunger, shame, and desire to the body’s limits, letting the horror grow out of something intimate and disturbingly ordinary.
