After an accident leaves a young woman vulnerable, a disturbed plastic surgeon decides to remake her as the daughter he can't let go of. Robert Lansing is the doctor, whose fixation feeds a plan to get his hands on his late father-in-law's property; Judith Chapman is the victim drawn into the deception. Reconstructive surgery becomes a forced impersonation as his medical authority and family obsession close in around her life.
