The King of the Street Cleaners

ComedyDramaRomance80 min

A street cleaner rules his neighborhood less with authority than with nerve, humor, and a stubborn sense of pride. Moving through the city’s back streets with a broom in hand, he knows everyone’s business and keeps finding himself pulled into other people’s troubles. What starts as the routine of a working man turns into a tangle of class slights, romantic hopes, and daily humiliations that he refuses to accept quietly. As he tries to hold onto his dignity, small disputes grow into public confrontations, and his place in the street becomes something he has to defend. Kemal Sunal centers the story as a man scraping by while insisting on being seen.
