Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro

AnimationAnimeComedyCrime102 min

Master thief Lupin III heads for the Castle of Cagliostro after a casino score turns out to be a stack of counterfeit bills, pointing him toward the source of a forgery scheme and whatever treasure the count is hiding. Yasuo Yamada is Lupin, a quick-handed thief whose chase through secret passages and clock towers collides with Clarisse (Sumi Shimamoto), a young princess being forced into marriage. In Hayao Miyazaki’s 1979 film, the hunt for counterfeit money opens into a rescue, a siege on the castle, and an uneasy alliance with Lupin’s familiar rival, Inspector Zenigata, and fellow thief Fujiko Mine.
