Barney's Version

ComedyDrama134 min

Barney Panofsky, a hard-drinking Montreal TV producer, tells his own version of a life that stretches across three decades, three marriages, and one badly timed meeting with the woman he can’t forget. Paul Giamatti’s Barney is blunt, impulsive, and forever rewriting the story in his favor, while Rosamund Pike is Miriam, the woman he first meets at his second wedding. Dustin Hoffman’s Izzy, Barney’s fast-talking father, stays close through the upheaval as the film moves from bohemian Rome to family life in Canada, tracing the mess, comedy, and fallout of a man who never learned to keep himself in check.
