The Honest One

ComedyDrama93 min

An ordinary man tries to live by strict honesty in a world that treats that as a weakness. In Istanbul, a modest civil servant becomes the target of suspicion and gossip when people around him assume no one can stay poor and remain completely clean. As rumors spread, his upright reputation stops protecting him and starts making his life harder at home, at work, and in his neighborhood. Pressured from every side, he is pushed toward a bitter choice: keep clinging to principles that bring him nothing, or bend to the crooked rules everyone else already accepts. Directed by Ertem Eğilmez, the film turns that pressure into a mix of comedy and social critique.
