In 1965 Saigon, a fast-talking Armed Forces Radio DJ arrives to wake up the troops with jokes, music, and a running commentary that sounds nothing like the stiff broadcasts the military expects. His show quickly becomes a lifeline for soldiers far from home, but every improvised crack and off-script song choice puts him in deeper conflict with officers who want order, restraint, and safe propaganda on the air. As the war presses closer to daily life in the city, the gap widens between what he is told to say and what he sees around him. Robin Williams leads the film as the broadcaster whose voice turns a military workplace into a constant battle over truth, authority, and morale.
