Sixteen Candles

ComedyDramaRomance93 min

On her 16th birthday, Samantha Baker is quietly sidelined by the chaos of her sister’s wedding and the fact that her own family has forgotten the day entirely. Molly Ringwald is Samantha, a suburban high schooler trying to survive humiliation at home, a crush on senior Jake Ryan, and the relentless attention of Ted, Anthony Michael Hall’s talkative freshman outsider. Around her, John Hughes stacks family mayhem, hallway gossip, and one long, awkward day of teenage panic as Samantha watches the popular crowd from a distance and wonders whether anyone sees her the way she wants to be seen.
