Girl in the Picture
CrimeDocumentaryMystery102 min
After a young mother is found dying beside an Oklahoma road and her son is later abducted, a tangle of aliases and lies starts to unravel around the man claiming to be her husband. Girl in the Picture follows investigators, witnesses, and journalist Matt Birkbeck as they piece together a decades-long case involving child abuse, false identity, and a federal fugitive who kept the woman’s past buried. As records surface and old accounts are revisited, the film keeps its focus on the woman at the center of the mystery and the child left in its wake.
