After assaulting two police officers, disgraced ex-England football captain Danny “Mean Machine” Meehan lands in prison and tries to keep his head down. Vinnie Jones is Danny, a former star drawn back to the pitch when the inmates get a chance to take on the guards in a prison football match. As he pulls together a team from around the wings, old rivalries and prison politics spill onto the field. David Kelly and David Hemmings are part of the ensemble around Danny as the match becomes a showdown between prisoners who have little to lose and officers who expect an easy win.
