Former ’80s pop idol Alex Fletcher gets an unlikely shot at a comeback when chart-topper Cora Corman asks him to write and record a duet—except he hasn’t written a song in years, and lyrics aren’t his thing. Hugh Grant is Alex, living off old hits until Sophie Fisher, the woman tending his plants, turns out to have a knack for words. As Drew Barrymore’s Sophie gets pulled into a rushed songwriting partnership, rehearsals, deadlines, and Alex’s uneasy return to the spotlight turn a work assignment into a closer bond.
