Throne of Blood

Drama110 min

After a spirit in the forest predicts their futures, samurai commander Washizu rides back to his lord’s castle with ambition already taking hold. Toshirô Mifune is Washizu, whose rise through feudal Japan’s warrior ranks turns darker when the prophecy begins to come true; at his side, Isuzu Yamada’s Asaji urges him toward murder and usurpation. Akira Kurosawa reworks Macbeth into a world of fog, ritual, and looming violence, where ghosts, loyalty, and political power press in from every corridor of the fortress.
